Cookie Monster

Keep your ball away from the Cookie Monster!

• Set Up

  • Create a "cookie jar" in the middle of the play space

  • Create boundaries for the game with cones

• Equipment

  • Hula Hoop (optional)

  • Cones (optional)

  • 3-5 playground balls

• Objective

  The goal of the game is to keep your ball away from the Cookie Monster.

• Directions

  1. Arrange cones to form a big square, and use a hula hoop to be the Cookie Jar. 

  2. Choose 2-3 players to be Cookie Monsters. 

  3. On “GO” the players will run with and pass the ball (the cookie!) to keep it away from the Cookie Monster who will try to tag them. 

  4. If the Cookie Monster intercepts a ball or tags a player who is holding the ball, the Cookie Monster takes the cookie back to the Cookie Jar. 

  5. The round is over when all the cookies are back in the Cookie Jar. 

• Variations

  ● Time the rounds and see how long players can go before the Cookie Monster gets all the cookies.

• Coaching Points

  • Allow younger players to practice passing the ball before adding the cookie monster

  • Play the monster the 1st round to be an example
