A listening group game.

• Set Up

  • open space to play

• Equipment

  No Equipment

• Objective

  The goal of the game is to find a group of players equal to the number of claps/whistles the leader does. Anyone left out is “out” for that game. 

• Directions

  1. A “leader” is chosen, preferably a teacher or supervisor. This person will be the person that claps or whistles a certain number of times. 

  2. If they clap 3 times, then the players should get into groups of three, if they clap 5 times, then the players are to form groups of 5, etc. 

  3. People may not stay in the same groups time after time; they must change groups each time. 

  4. Anyone that is not in a group, or is extra, is “out” for that game but will play in the next game. 

  5. The last couple of players that are left are considered the “winners”.

• Variations

  ●Add in restrictions to make the game more challenging. For example each group has to have at least one boy or one girl, etc. 

  ● To keep the game inclusive, rather than eliminating players who do not have a group, designate an exercise such as jumping jacks that they can complete and then rejoin the game.

  • Huggy Bear: Have players dance and when the music stops yell a number and they have to connect with their group by hugging or touching elbows, those that are not in a group stand to the side

• Coaching Points

  • Discuss bodily autonomy and that is people don't want to be touched they can just stand with their group or hold something that other can grab onto
