Freeze Tag

A game of running and freezing.

• Set Up

  • Open space with a boundary

• Equipment

  • No equipment

  • Cones (optional)

• Objective

  The goal of the game is for the players who are “It” to freeze everyone else.

• Directions

  1. Demonstrate safe tagging. 

  2. Select 2 players to be “It” 

  3. To begin, the players spread out within the boundary. 

  4. If a player gets tagged, they immediately freeze. 

  5. To become “unfrozen”, another player must give the frozen player a double high-five. 

  6. After several minutes, the leader should switch out taggers.

• Variations

  Blob Tag: Players link arms when they are tagged to create a blob, the last person to not be tagged is the winner.

• Coaching Points

  • Change how big or small the play space is for different age groups

  • To help out a team you can have a special whistle where everyone is unfrozen
